WHO:
Cesar Mejia
Cesar Mejia is an L.A. based engineer, producer and a faculty member at Cal State Dominguez Hills where he teaches audio recording courses for the Digital Media Arts program. Cesar’s methods and skills have allowed him to maintain an ever-growing list of clients like: Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Brian Eno, Bill Withers, will.i.am, Beatmo, Chicago, Zach de la Rocha, Mezklah, Hurley Clothing, Hanoi Counsel for the Arts Vietnam, Sting, Joni Mitchell, Al Jarreau, George Duke, George Benson, Motorhead, Monte Carlo 76, Natashia Williams, Brujeria, Nathan East, Los Lobos, Marcus Miller, Aztlan Underground, Chicano Son, Amazon Gold Foundation, Andy Garcia, Most Eligible Basturds, Marisa Ronstadt, Susan Egan, & Kenny Moreno. He’ll discuss his use of Vanguard microphones and play back some tracks from his favorite sessions.
Gary Lux
Gary Lux (Janet Jackson, Manhattan Transfer, Ben Harper, Usher, Sting, and many many more) is one of Hollywood’s premier music mixers, with literally thousands of projects to his credit. Gary has also been recording the music for the Golden Globe Awards broadcast for 27 years. All the music heard during the Golden Globe’s broadcast is prerecorded, there is no live orchestra at the show. And this year Gary recorded using the Vanguard V4 FET Large Diaphragm Condenser. Gary will talk about his experiences recording the Golden Globe’s music, plus play back some of his recordings from the session and maybe even A/B the Vanguard against some other classic mics.
Ben Burgett
Ben Burgett is an established Musician/Multi-Instrumentalist and Recording/Mixing Engineer who also played lead trumpet during the Golden Globe Awards recording sessions. He’ll join Gary to discuss the recording process for the Golden Globe’s music, plus the fact that he loved the Vanguard V4 so much, he immediately purchased one for himself after the session.
