I get a lot of questions about tube changes in our V13 and V13 gen2 Tube Condensers. That makes sense – vacuum tube swaps are one of the easiest modifications to make in tube gear (provided it’s socketed and you’ve got the right pinout!) In our manual, I recommend the EHX 6072A as an alternative tube flavor for our ‘secret-sauce’ V13 tube. We even provide an extra tube slot in the aluminum case, so you can have that extra tube flavor on hand!

Vanguard family member Kit Nolan recently provided a fantastic example of WHAT happens when you change the tube in a V13. He recorded pretty much an entire song with his matched pair of gen1 Vanguard V13s, with the only difference being the tube.
