Matt Anderson of Millsounds Studio is back at it with another great demonstration video. This time, he’s working with a Sugar Percussion 15×7″ Cedar Snare. In conjunction with drummer Keith Symanowitz, they experiment with different tunings, damping materials, and playing styles on the “Bus Driver” snare.
Matt chose to mic the entire kit with Vanguard Audio Labs condenser microphones, and got some great sounds.
The overheads are V4 FET Condensers in a spaced pair arrangement. Kick is covered by a Vanguard V13 Tube Condenser, which excels at that vintage kick sound. The snare is captured by a V44S gen2 FET Condenser, a mic that Matt reviewed with several videos in depth a while back.
