I know, we post about Josh Turner a LOT. But man, when you get regular performances like this one, it’s hard not to!
Townes van Zandt’s “I’ll Be Here in the Morning” has been covered quite a few times, for good reason. In my opinion, it’s a masterclass in American songwriting.
Josh and Carson McKee, officially known as “The Other Favorites”, decided to record this version 100% analog. The guitar reverb is through a spring tank on his Supro amp head. You can see the tape machine spinning in the background. Josh has owned a V13 Tube Condenser for a good long while now, along with a V44S gen2 Stereo FET. and recently picked up a V4 gen2 FET Condenser. You can see his V13 and V4 are serving up the vocals; the V13 in particular is really making magic in all the nooks and crannies of Carson’s voice.
Many thanks to Josh and Carson for always bringing their “A” game!
