The Vanguard V1 pencil condenser microphones and the Vanguard V4 FET condenser microphones have been used for Dolby Atmos recording of the Szeged Symphony Orchestra by Istvan Matok.

The recording setup included a Decca Tree with wide mics (Schöeps MK2Hs with KA50 spheres, wides: MK21s) and spot mics that were purposefully selected with a wide variety. For example ribbon microphones were used for the brass instruments, small diaphragm condensers were used on violins, big
diaphragm condensers on the lower strings (such as violas, celli, and double basses), small diaphragm condensers on the Bösendorfer Grand Piano, so on. The Vanguard V1s were used exclusively for the woodwinds, while the Vanguard V4s were used for french horns. For the Atmos setup, the Vanguard V1s were used as a surround pair in omni.

The recording was recorded in 192 kHz/24 bit WAV files on Pro Tools, and the mic pre-amps included are among the best US, British, Danish and Hungarian models, such as the Millenia HV3D, the John Oram Octasonic, the Gaspar G-AMP8,
and the DAD Pristine Pres (Avid MTRX).
