It’s not exactly a secret we’re huge fans of Jenny Owen Youngs. During one of the first records I produced and engineered from top-to-bottom, the artist pointed me to Jenny’s record “An Unwavering Band of Light” as as a style reference. From there, I was absolutely hooked.
Jenny is a big fan of the V13 gen2 Tube Condenser, and it’s all over the new record “From The Forest Floor”. From Jenny:
“Aside from a few things John Mark tracked separately in LA, he and I recorded nearly everything on the record at my home studio in Maine, and any acoustic instrument we tracked there was captured with the V13.”
The new record is a relaxing acoustic instrumental journey via OFFAIR records. Offair is a label dedicated to inviting artists who don’t usually make instrumental music to give it a go.
“My record is a 12-song cycle designed to feel like 24 hours spent in the forest, hence the title from the forest floor. I collaborated with John Mark Nelson on the entire album, and it features writing & performance contributions from Hrishikesh Hirway and Jess Abbott (Tancred).”
We’re delighted to be a part of Jenny’s artistic process.
