Reto Thalmann
Tempesta is a Swiss metal band formed in 1994 consisting of Reto Thalmann, Pascal Fuchs, Ruedi Khalin, and Armin Bruehwiler. On the advice of our excellent distributor there, they picked up a Vanguard V13 Tube Condenser for their studio work.
Leader RETO THALMANN shared a little of his and the band’s history with us. He’s released five studio records since the band formed and has shared the stage with ZZ Top, Billy Idol, Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry, The Cult, Scorpions and Krokus. Though Tempesta have been on the road since 1994, the band’s current lineup has been together for around 20 years. After more than 300 live shows, he scored a Platinum Award for Swiss record sales. The band has attracted top-shelf producers such as Tom Whitlock (Oscar winner for “Take my Breath Away”) and Al Sutton (Kid Rock, Greta Van Fleet).
Says Reto:
“With Noah Veraguth as co-writer of CAROLINA, Tempesta have now been able to make one of the big names from our home country enthusiastic about our cause.
Pascal (git, vox), Ruedi (bass), Armin (drums) and myself are serving up a magnificent mid-tempo song with CAROLINA, carried by an incomparable mix of melancholy, confidence and anticipation. A hymn about missing. A hymn about longing. But also a hymn about faith that all will end well.
What you think?”
And he had this to say about his V13 gen2:
“We’ve been using the Vanguard for all our vocal recording on our last album as well as the new one we’re working on now.
It has all the important qualities, open with amazing definition, but without being harsh. Warm and expensive sounding but with amazing clarity.
There’s an intimacy that you normally only get from the very, very expensive German mics.
Feedback from our mix engineer was that he never used as little processing on a vocal recording.
An all-around winner in any price category.”
