Mr. Rahmad Ayob, also known as “Rahmad Kamikaze”, is one of the best sound engineers in Malaysia. Rahmad Kamikaze is the bassist for a Malaysia’s rock band, Kamikaze. He started the career as a bassist for the band, Ruhil & Metal Child in 1987. His involvement as a bassist for Kamikaze, started from the first album titled “Kontroversi” until the 4th album “The Return”.
In 1990, he worked at Mac Chew and Jenny Chin’s Babyboss Studio as a recording engineer. At Babyboss Studio, Rahmad Kamikaze was professionally involved with various local and foreign musicians. Among the local albums ever been recorded by Rahmad Kamikaze are Sheila Majid, Zainal Abidin, Karma, Afdlin Shauki, Ella, Search, Man Bai and many more. He also recorded numerous international albums such as Jonathan Lee, Sandy Lam, Emil Chau, Coco Lee, Michael and Victor, Zen, Rene, Tracy Huang, Sarah Chen, Chao Chuan, Sandii Suzuki, Rikki Nakano, The Boom and Monday Michiru.
In 2001, Kamikaze won the Anugerah Industry Muzik (AIM) Malaysia award for the category of Best Rock Albums and was nominated in the same category in 2002. Rahmad Kamikaze’s work also has been recognized by AIM, twice, in the Best Engineered Album awards for Dayang Nurfaezah and Nora albums in 2006 and 2012. His other works also has been nominated 3 times in 1997, 1999 and 2003 for the Best Engineered Album category.
Currently, Rahmad Kamikaze is active as a sound engineer for live events and concerts. He isalso active in the music production scene as a music producer and mixing engineer for various local and international artists. With over 30 years of experience in the music and Pro Audio industry, he also contributes to the Malaysian music industry as audio engineering consultant, designer and trainer.
