Our friend Oliver Schnee is a film & TV composer from Los Angeles, California. With his father’s wonderful microphone collection and studio available, he was fortunate enough to grow up recording with some of the best vintage tube microphones around.
In 2012, he scored a powerful film for Academy Award winner Robert Zemeckis, and just recently wrapped up another feature with Zemeckis. Amongst the number of projects he has been a part of, a few recent highlights include scoring a compelling feature film on the Galápagos Islands for National Geographic, as well as a handful of scores for Academy Award nominee James Franco. His unique voice in arrangement and composition stems from his years of study under such illustrious composers as James Newton Howard, John Powell, and Henry Jackman.
Here’s what he had to say about his V13:
“As a composer, I’m constantly recording new and unusual instruments for my scores. The V13 is a fail-safe mic that I can set up quickly and then focus on the musician’s performance at hand. For the price, this mic is insane. Sounds clean, pure, and incredibly versatile.”
