Eugene Bisdikian is an electric and upright bassist located in Rochester, NY. He regularly performs with a number of groups in both Rochester and the New York metropolitan area, with styles including pop, rock, jazz, soul, funk, and more. He is also a private bass instructor, and currently teaches lessons through the Eastman Community Music School. Eugene graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance, and is on track to complete a Master’s Degree in Music Education in the summer of 2020.
Eugene got his start with recording while at Eastman, where he completed a minor in Audio & Music engineering at the Univeristy of Rochester under the guidance of award-winning engineers Stephen Roessner and Robert LaVaque. During his studies, he began assisting Eastman students with pre-screening and audition recordings for competitions, festivals, and graduate school applications. Since then, he has worked on EPs and albums with a number of Rochester artists in a variety of styles, and is continuing to expand his recording business.
Eugene picked up the V1S+LOLLI Multi-Capsule Pencil Condenser Kit stereo pair in April 2019, serial numbers #359 and #365, and later added a V13 Tube Condenser, serial number #867.
“The V1S+LOLLI pair is the most versatile set of microphones that I own. They’ve come with me to literally – and I do mean literally – every session I’ve done since they arrived. My sessions take place in a variety of locations with a variety of musicians, so I need my microphones to be both versatile and portable. With this kit I effectively have six different microphones to choose from, times two. I’d like to give a special mention to the wide cardioid capsule; it captures the full body of the source without getting to harsh, while providing just the right amount of warm ambience from some of the concert halls that I get to work in.”
