Here’s the unfortunate secret truth about running a business – most days, my head is buried in my computer screen for 8 hours. I’m doing accounting, or web updates, or a social post, or engineering drawings, or responding to an email…Regardless, I don’t get to make music a whole lot. Fortunately, I get to live vicariously through all the folks who own Vanguard microphones.
Case in point – got randomly tagged in an Instagram story yesterday. Certainly not unusual. About 10% of the time, it’s a post offering $5 Ray-Bans (totally genuine!). The other 85% it’s various photos or videos of our mics in the wild, which is very cool. And 5% of the time, I get pure magic…this was one of those times!
Meimuna is a French-language folk artist. “Quiet is the New Loud” is declared on their Instagram bio, and that about captures the delicate, ambient sound that wrapped around my brain as soon as I heard the first few seconds of “Près du littoral”. Recorded live at Théâtre de l’Echandole in Switzerland, the charm of the song is in simplicity, tone, and pure musicianship. 6 vocals, 1 guitar, and a microphone in a beautifully reverberant space.
Recorded by our friend Antoine Estoppey, we are proud to know that the Vanguard V13 captured this entire performance.
