It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of Josh Turner here at Vanguard. A YouTube guitar sensation and multi-instrumental wizard, his natural sense for tone, timing, and performance is an absolute joy to witness. We’ve posted about his videos again…and again…and again!

Josh recently released the Excel Josh Turner Tammany acoustic with D’Angelico Guitars. D’Angelico took the opportunity to tour Josh’s studio space. Josh has a knack for remote recording as well, but as he says – “welcome to my home studio, which is also our living room…in Brooklyn, we have to make every space a multi-use space.”

Josh is a big fan of his Vanguard microphones, including his V13, V44S gen2, and V4 gen2 microphones. Here, the V44S takes precedence as he demonstrates his signal chain and recording philosophy. “I’m a big believer in using whatever is the simplest way to do something…I like [the V44S] because it has a pretty small visual footprint]….I just happen to love nice gear.”
