The V13 sounds great in a lot of settings, but one of our favorites is hearing our tube condenser paired with an incredible voice. Well, we’ve got a treat for you today in the form of Qerenne’s new EP, “Midnight Harmony”. Not only is she an incredible vocalist, she’s put together stunning vocal arrangements of some of her favorite songs (by artists like Prince, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, and Gregory Porter) and added layers of her own voice for some wonderfully lush versions of these songs. If you like the sound of an incredible vocalist on a great mic, you’ll love her new EP.
Here’s what Qerenne had to say about recording with her V13 for this EP:
“The first thing I did when I got it – is film a mic shootout with some other well-known microphone models and I realized it really is the best choice I could’ve made.I don’t think I’ve recorded anything on a different mic ever since then. Just looking at it makes me want to sing. Most of the stuff in the E.P were recorded not long after I got the V13 so it was definitely a strong motivator. It sounds so straight forward and “alive” yet really smooth, and definitely brings out the best in my voice which is the “velvety” air and those deep low mids. Sometimes I don’t even use any EQ on my vocal at all, unless I want a certain effect. So yeah, no wonder I just keep adding more and more vocal layers, I can’t help it!”
To show you just how good Qerenne’s voice sounds on a V13, we asked her to send us a short clip of audio completely unprocessed. Here’s the sound of nothing more than her voice through the Vanguard V13 Tube Condenser.
