Vanguard recently took a trip to Sphere Studios in Los Angeles for the 77th Annual Golden Globes recording session. The mic of choice for horns? Five Vanguard V4 FET Condensers.
Legendary engineer Gary Lux (Janet Jackson, Tears for Fears, Ben Harper, Usher, Sting, and more) put the V4 up against his usual choice – a vintage U47 FET – and came away impressed. After moving the U47 around the horns to trumpet, trombone, and saxophone, the V4s were chosen at mixdown for their natural presence and detail.
The music was composed by Golden Globes Music Director Geoff Stradling (The Romanoffs, Mad Men, The Dark Knight Rises…). We’re happy to have been a part of the session! Thanks to our man Judd Levison for putting this together.
You can hear the V4s on the Golden Globes intro below.
If you have any questions about the V4, give us a shout or find your local dealer!
